After a quick wakeboard run last night I got the idea to write about my summer. Summers at the lake are crazy, super wild and full of good times. In my spare time I want to write about different stories and adventures from my summers spent at the lake, and to start it off, I'm going write about my epic bail from last night...
My buddy Mitchell had been texting me all day, wanting to go shred. Since I work at 6am every day, I was tired and tried getting out of it. Finally after all his nagging I gave in and said after my a nap I would go out. 3 hours later 7 o'clock rolls around and he picks me up in his boat. I strap in, and we take off.
Right away I can tell something doesn't feel right. The wake is too rough, the rope is too long, and Mitchell is driving too fast. It was so cold I didn't want to bother stopping and fixing shit, so I started jumping. I did some wake-to-wake grabs, switch ones, but I still didn't feel comfortable. I figured I better show him what I got anyways, so I cut out hard toe-side, then came charging in heel-side. I hit the wake super hard, threw a 360, passed the handle, then spotted my landing. Except I was completely fucked up in mid air and ended up landing nose first clearing the wake. Right then and there I slapped the side of my head against the water and got knocked the fuck out! All I saw was black, then within a few seconds I realized I couldn't breathe because I got winded so hard. Once I finally caught my breathe and Mitch came around with the boat he asked, "You okay dude?" I said, "Yeah, one for attempt." The second go around I started off with a super sketch 180 to get warmed up. The weather was getting worse at this point, conditions were tough. I didn't like that last 180, so I figured I should land it clean before trying the three again. This time I jumped, did the 180 and landed the exact same way as my first bail, this time all the impacted on the left side of my body. And both times the board being ripped off my feet. I was so mad, I decided to go in the boat and let Mitchell go.
Everything from here is pretty foggy, I only remember bits and peices and from stuff people told me. But when I got in the boat, Mitch said he knew I was fucked up when I asked him how my hat and sunglasses got in the boat. I don't remember pulling him, but apparently I did. I must have did something sketchy cause he told me he was taking me back, I was too hurt. When he dropped me off at my place, I fell off the dock I was so dizzy.
Now I will fast foward to about midnight. I was still up, scared to go to sleep in case I wouldn't get up. Sitting on my computer watching YouTube I remembered that Mom was cooking supper when I left and forgot to eat after. So I go into Lori's room and ask her what they ate for supper. She answered saying, "Aaron. You ate supper with us." That chilled my bones. We argued about it for a bit, then finally she said, "Aaron, believe me, you ate. You are the one who is goofy right now." I didn't remember how I got into the clothes I was wearing, when my parents got home from Alberta, and that Kelsey had left the lake yesterday.
It was a scary feeling I had never felt before, and now today I am so incredibly sore. I still have about a day of memory missing, I'm glad that's the only damage done.
